Elderberry syrup has been used for centuries as a holistic home remedy to boost your immune system and prevent colds or flu like symptoms. The berries and flowers of organic elderberries contains antioxidants and vitamins that boosts your immune system. Below is a step by step recipe to make your very own elderberry syrup with Taylor Apothecary's Organic Elderberry!
Boil 5 cups of water, preferably Spring Water. Turn down heat to simmer.
Add 1 cup of Organic Elderberries, 4 sticks of Cinnamon, 2 teaspoons of chopped Ginger, and 1 teaspoon of Ground or Whole Cloves.
Simmer for 45 minutes with lid on, stirring occasionally.
Let cool down at room temperature for about an hour.
Drain into large bowl/pot using fine strainer or cheesecloth. Use spoon to press out as much juice as possible. (Don't waste it!)
Add in mixture 1 cup of RAW Honey and mix well.
Store in an airtight container such as a mason jar and place in refrigerator for up to 2 months.
Take a teaspoon a day to keep the doctor away! Due to the natural properties of RAW HONEY, this syrup is not recommended for children under the age of 2.
